To so many people, so many things....
This was the first line of the poem that my brother wrote for me to honor Gram when I was despairing the loss of her.

>She was a daughter, a daddy's girl, who lost her father unexpectedly, and grieved for him all the days of her life.
>She was a Granddaughter, who kept them alive by sharing her gratitude and love for them through her stories and memories.
>She was a sister, who was doing all she could to make the last days of her sisters battle with cancer peaceful, when she was suddenly taken herself.
>She was a mother, to children unaware, who would lay down at night a little early, cuddled in bed, whispering fervent prayers, sometimes for hours, to protect, provide and comfort them in ways she couldn't.
>She was a wife, to a man with a longterm chronic illness, that stole time from them both.
>She was the secret Mayor of her town, shaking everyone's hand, and asking are you related to ______? And they usually were! It always ended with,"They are a real nice family"
>She was a connection keeper, waking before everyone, sitting at the table with tea and toast, and writing lengthy letters,to relatives and friends mostly "back home" in her cherished hometown of Carrier Mills, Illinois.
>She was a Grandmother, my gram, and I was her "lambchop", she wasn't perfect, but she was PERFECT for ME. I love you.
------**********-------**********---------*********---------
My gram didn't ask for much, and she sure didn't get much. Not even many worry free days.
But maybe the biggest thing I have ever gotten was her love, the kind of love that you know can't be taken away, not if I was naughty, or fat and ugly, or did dumb stuff, or said dumb stuff, or didn't become a doctor, or burned dinner, or was late, I mean the kind of love that just was, just because I was her lambchop, It is the biggest gift of all, it is lifechanging to be loved for yourself with all your human flaws, and there aren't enough words to thank someone who loves you like that, but I will always love you for it my most beautiful Gram.
***********************************************************
Gram lies in rest with her mother, and the sisters she loved so much, June (Bet) who passed two weeks after Gram, and Roberta (Bob) who we lost 9 months later, all the grand girls gone within 10 months of each other.
