William Carbee age 37 of Springville,Iowa nativity New Hampshire was appointed Captain Co H 24th Iowa Infantry Aug 9 1862.

Killed in action May 16 1863 Battle of Champion Hill, MS.

No burial site listed. Probably interred in mass grave at battle site on Champion family property.
