Sergeant James K. Walker, or... chief of a B-25 U.S. Army Air Corps, was killed in active ... duty on Biak Island, July 28, ... cording to a message received from the War Department today by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.K. Walker, 2221 Church street.

Sgt. Walker had been in the service three years and overseas the past 16 months. He had ... in New Guinea and on the ... Islands.

After completing his high school (continued to page 7) education he attended East Texas State Teachers College, receiving his degree in history and medicine. He was also a trusted employe of Palmer's Drug Store for a number of years, and was a member of the Baptist church. Sgt. Walker was one of Greenville's most outstanding young men.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.K. Walker, a sister, Mrs. Charles Pickens of this city, and a half sister, Mrs. R.O. Porter of Point.
