PFC Lopez is honoreed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at Panel 58E, Line 12.∼Born in Austin to Mary Lopez. Attended Austin Schools. He entered the Army through Selective Service in October 1967. He completed basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana and Artillery Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He began his tour in Vietnam on March 19, 1968 and was assigned as artillery crewman with A Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Artillery, 25th Infantry Division. He was burned from the residuals of an explosive device on May 9, 1968 and was medevaced and died in an Evac Hospital the following day.
