Elizabeth Searcy was the daughter of Robert Searcy & wife, Millie Ballard of Albemarle Co, VA. They left Albemarle Co after the American Revolutionary War; stopped in Henry Co, VA from ca 1777-1783; then on to Burke Co, NC where Robert Searcy had already filed for land in 1779 and 1780. Robert Searcy is listed in 1790 census for Burke Co, NC; he died ca 1796. By 1800, his widow Millie and their children are living in Rutherford Co, NC. The family of Robert Searcy was the ONLY Searcy family in that area of NC. Millie died about 1829 in Rutherford Co, NC. All NC census data indicates that Elizabeth & her known siblings were born in VA; Elizabeth was born while the family was in Henry Co, VA so I have corrected her birthplace to reflect that.

No relationship has been proven between Robert Searcy of Albemarle Co, VA and the generally better-known & very large Searcy family of Granville Co, NC.

Elizabeth had six known brothers, all born in VA:
John Searcy (see link below), 1764-1841
Richard Searcy, b 1766-bef 1831 (very little proven info; wife's name is believed to have been Elizabeth)
William Searcy, b 1770-1836 (married Frances Dalton Oct 17, 1790; Rutherford Co, NC)
Reuben Searcy, b 1775-1849 (married Lucinda Elizabeth Dalton ca 1793, Rutherford Co, NC)
David Searcy, b 1778-1838 (married #1 Jesten Dalton in 1801; married #2 Elizabeth "Betsy" Spivey in 1804 [both marriages in Rutherford Co, NC); died Apr 14, 1838 in Jackson Co, MO
Robert Searcy, b 1782-1857 (married #1 Mary "Polly" Spivey in 1802, Rutherford Co, NC; married #2 Rebecca Condreay in 1849); died Apr 29, 1857 in Keokuk Co, Iowa.

Here is a link to Elizabeth's brother, John, who served in the American Revolutionary War. Note the reference in his pension papers to his brother-in-law, Amos Green ...

John Searcy

Elizabeth Searcy & Amos Green were married ca 1797 in either Burke or Rutherford Co, NC. The entire Green family (parents & 12 children) appears to have left Rutherford County shortly after the death of Millie Searcy (ca 1829). Descendants of Amos & Elizabeth have prepared an excellent history of their Green family.

As indicated in memorial for Amos Green, their oldest child was Mary "Polly" Green who married Daniel Morrison.
Daniel Morrison & Mary Green married Oct 4, 1821, Rutherford Co, NC. Bondsman was Richard Sercy (sic), [Elizabeth's older brother]; witness was Amos Green [Mary's father]!

In 1830 census, Danil (sic) Morrison is in Habersham Co, GA. Both he & his wife are age 30-40; they have 1 son, age 5-10; 1 son & 1 dau under age 5.
In 1840 census, Daniel Morrison is still in Habersham Co, GA. Both he & his wife are age 40-50; they have 1 son, age 15-20; 1 son & 1 dau, age 10-15; 2 sons, age 5-10; 2 daus under age 5.

--1850 census of Habersham Co, GA, Daniel Morrison, b SC, is age 55; his wife, Mary, b NC, is 52. Children (all born in GA) are: E Morrison, female, age 22; J. Morrison, male, age 21; J. Morrison, male, age 18; M. Morrison, female, age 13; N. Morrison, female, age 11.

--1870 Census, Batesville, Habersham Co, GA
HH #414:
Mary Morrison, 72, b NC
Nancy Morrison, 31, b GA
James Waldrope, 14, b GA
(It is assumed that Daniel Morrison died between 1860-1870 in Habersham Co, GA; however no legible tombstone has been found.)
HH #413: (Probably son of Mary Morrison)
William Morrison, 39, (He, his wife & all children b in GA)
Sarah A. Morrison, 37
Rosetta C. Morrison, 14
Liner L. Morrison, 5
Siner A. Morrison, 3
Nathaniel Free, 64, b SC
--1880 Census, Batesville, Habersham Co, GA
Nancey Morrison, age 41, single, head of household
Mary Morrison, age 81, mother, widowed
*Reuben Morrison, age 21, grandson (married)
*Nancy L. Morrison, age 19, grand dau-in-law (married)
*It is assumed that these described relationships refer to Mary Morrison rather than Nancey.

Neither Mary or Nancy Morrison are listed in 1900 census; no legible tombstones found for either one in Habersham Co, GA. However, I did find some FAG memorials for "Morrison" in Habersham Co which indicate they were children of Daniel & Mary "Polly" Morrison.
