John Hawkins is the son of Philemon Hawkins, Sr. (1690-1725) and Ann Eleanor Howard (1695-abt 1742). He married Mary Wyatt 1726-1775) about 1743 in Granville County, North Carolina. He served in the Colonial Militia of the South during the Revolutionary War.
