Jennie drowned, age 15, in the St. Croix River at Osceola while ice skating with Edward Armstrong of Stillwater MN. Edward tried to save her but also drowned. Two men on the ice attempted to save the pair by laying boards on the thin ice to reach the hole. A gloom was cast over the town of Osceola for the loss of the two ice skaters. Edward was buried in the Old Willow River Cemetery in Hudson WI.
