Imo Jean Fletcher, 77, of Springfield, Mo., went to meet her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2009. She was born December 26, 1932, in Sugar Grove, Ark.
On April 26, 1949, she was married to her husband, Grady Fletcher. They were married for 60 years before the Lord called her home. Jean had a passion for music. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and could play any instrument she picked up. She wrote many songs along with singing in Gospel quartets with her daughter, Jan. She formed the groups The Gospel Tones and Gospel DJ's. She sang in many churches and witnessed to many people with her music.
Preceding Jean in death were her parents, Finis and Myrtle Sewell; her step-mother, Flossie Sewell; father and mother-in-law, Thurman and Beulah Fletcher; and her son, Grady "Buck" Fletcher Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Grady Fletcher of the home; children, Frances Garrison and Doris Jones of Davis, Okla., Carolyn Smith and husband, Ron of Elkland, Mo., Kevin Fletcher and wife, Barb of Springfield, Mo., Tonya Sherrell and husband, Larry of Springfield, Mo., and Jan McElveen and husband, Danny of Springfield, Mo. She was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services will be held Tuesday, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
