She was the daughter of George W. Miller and Susan F. Shinault Miller. She was the wife of Taylor Z. Haynes whose burial place is unknown. She died the next month after giving birth to her baby daughter, Carrie Christine Haynes, and the family was divided among the family members to raise.

A son, George Miller Haynes, is buried in Bradley County, Tennessee.
