Doris was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Phillips County, to Louis and Flossie (Holmes) Waterman. She graduated from Haxtun High School in 1943 with honors.
She was a sales clerk for Coast to Coast and Sears for several years.
On Nov. 13, 1945, Doris married Harlan Kenneth Howell in St. Francis, Kan.
She was a member of the Berean church. She loved music and her church and people.
Doris is survived by her sons, Gary Howell and wife Marilyn of Fort Collins and Gayle Howell of Sterling; sisters, Lois Callahan of Arvada and Darlene McCormick and husband J.T. of Phoenix; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; parents; and sister, LaVon Scholl.
