|Birth: ||Dec. 17, 1889|
|Death: ||Jul. 14, 1969|
You were born to James Jackson Hicks & Louisa Octavia Holland Hicks in Tyler county, Texas West of Jasper.
Your daughter Juanita Mixon-Baggett's children called you "Big Mama" for the obvious reason--you were my mama's mama! and mabey a little bigger too. You & Mom would occasionally take the little kids to your brother's, Uncle Chester's so we could fish in his pond. I remember that Bubba hooked Sonny's ear... WOW! But somebody got the hook out!!
You would sometimes catch me in the barn yard throwing corn cobs at the chickens, and call out across the field to my Mom and shout out to her, "Juanita, you better come get this boy!" and Mom would shout back "What's he doing now?" You answered "I don't know, but he's up to something, 'cause he's smiling again!"
I remember the hogs meat being cured and put up, saugage being made & smoked, and you & Mom was right in the middle of it all. Little did we (your grand kids) know how lucky we were. Certainly we didn't have much, but surely we had more than most. Most of all we had "love". Thank you, Big Mama!!

I remember that my Mom (Juanita, your daughter) would take turns with some of her siblings, and cared for you as you had Parkinson's... You passed while in your sleep... Rest in Peace!!|
