R. A. ABERNATHY, RETIRED OFFICIAL OF TP&L, DIES

Roger A. Abernathy, 70, retired Texas Power & Light Company rural service chief, will be buried Tuesday. He dies Saturday after a heart attack Friday in his garden at this home, 2126 Rugged Drive.

Born in McKinney, he was a University of Texas graduate and worked as a title expert for Texas Power & Light Company for many years. After 23 years with the firm he retired in 1950. He was a life member and past grand master of the St. John's Masonic Lodge, McKinney, and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Eric G. Godal of New York, N.Y.; two sons Roger E. Abernathy and Thomas R. Abernathy, both of Austin; four sisters, Mrs. K. D. Thompson, Miss Cecil Abernathy and Mrs. Mary Browne, all of McKinney, and Mrs. Luther B. Finley of Henderson, and one grandchild.

Services 10 a.m. Tuesday Lamar & Smith Chapel. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.
