Joseph A. Johnson died peacefully Thursday morning, April 5, 2012, while he was out in the field tending his sheep.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1948, to Everett and Margene Johnson of London, Ohio. They preceded him in death.
Joe was a graduate of London High School, class of 1967 and The Ohio State University, class of 1984.
He served in the U.S. Army.
After the army he worked in the Carpenter's Local Union No. 200 in 1976 and started teaching carpentry in the Columbus City Schools at Southeast Career Center. While in Columbus he also taught adult night-school classes in carpentry. He stayed with Columbus Schools until his retirement in 2004. He ended his Columbus career by serving as project manager for the building department.
Joe had many interests and participated in various organizations. He was a beekeeper, hunter, fisherman, theater techie, boater, camper, and gardener. He belonged to the Central Ohio Angler's and Hunter's Club of which he was a past president. He was a member of Chandler Lodge No. 138 F&AM in London. He was active in the Union County Master Gardener's Association for which he taught classes in growing vegetables. He was a leader for Cloverbuds and 4-H clubs. He raised sheep, turkeys, and chickens.
He was a nice guy and was kind to everyone.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
