Decatur County Journal
Thursday, June 12, 1919

Anna Belle, eldest daughter of W.H. and M.J. Frost, was born in Licking County, Ohio, August 5th, 1862. In the spring of 1864, her parents moved to Decatur County, Iowa, and she has ever since lived in the vicinity of Leon, until she moved near Garden Grove a few years ago.

On the 18th of September, 1884, she was married to C.S. Evans. To them were born five daughters and one son. They are: Angie Ethel, who died at the age of twelve years; Mrs. Victor Hull; Mrs. Lyman Parsons; Mrs. Henry Davis; Miss Eunice and Russell. There are also six grandchildren. She leaves also four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. J.M. Perry, of Elgin, Nebraska; Mrs. Ella Gittinger, J.W. and W.M. Frost, of near Leon, Mrs. John Evans, of near Blythedale, Mo.; and Mrs. H.W. Patton of Ordway, Colorado.

In early life Mrs. Evans united with the Methodist Church at Fairview, which she attended as long as she lived near the church. October 31, 1903, she united with the Brethren Church at Crown Chapel and has been a member since and always a faithful Christian.

A short time ago she was taken seriously ill and after two weeks of intense suffering, she passed away June 3, 1919, at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 28 days. Services were held in the Crown Chapel Church and interment at the Franklin Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by G.T. Ronk of the Brethren Church and a large and sympathetic crowd came out to express their sorrow.

Mrs. Evans was widely known and leaves a host of friends. She was a devoted mother and kind neighbor and was ever ready to help those in need. At an early age, a fine spirit has passed out from among us. She was one of those who make the world happier and better for living in it.
