Morgan Alys Berryhill, 19, of Box Springs, Taylor County, GA went to be with Jesus Friday, May 25, 2012, in Columbus, GA.
Morgan was born October 28, 1992 in Columbus, GA, daughter of Jon Michael Berryhill and Tammy Youngblood Berryhill of Box Springs. She graduated from Taylor County High School, Butler, GA, in 2011 where she was a cheerleader throughout her high school years. She was very actively involved in Geneva Baptist Church with Vacation Bible School and Youth Mission Week. She was a freshman at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA.
Survivors include her parents, Jon and Tammy Berryhill of Box Springs; twin sisters, Cate Berryhill and Clair Berryhill, Box Springs; maternal grandmother, Linda Wilson ("GaGa"), Box Springs; great grandmother, Geritha Adams, Box Springs; aunts and uncles, Brian and Mona Berryhill, Box Springs, Darriel Youngblood, Box Springs, and Jason and Angel Youngblood, Columbus, GA; cousins, Emily and Madison, Quinten, Kyle, Kenna, Aryn, Jayden and Julian; and her boyfriend, Trey Harrison of Columbus.
Funeral arrangements were by McMullen Funeral Home, Columbus. Funeral services were held May 29, 2012 at Geneva Baptist Church, Geneva, GA, with Reverend Lynn McManious, Reverend John Sheeley, and Reverend Kenneth Jeffries officiating. Interment was in Geneva Cemetery in Talbot County.
Morgan's family has established the Morgan Berryhill Memorial Scholarship in hopes of providing support to a struggling Taylor County students aspiring to attend college. In spite of struggling throughout school, Morgan graduated from Taylor County High School in 2011 and was accepted to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Through great effort, Morgan completed her first year at ABAC, succeeding in each course that she took. She had a strong desire to pursue an education and to help make the world a better place. Morgan did not reach her goal; while a full-time student at ABAC, Morgan was killed in an automobile accident by a distracted driver. The Scholarship is offered to Taylor County High School students who are highly motivated to succeed, despite academic struggles.
