MRS. MARY THOMPSON, A PIONEER OF LAINGSBURG, PASSES AT THE AGE OF 83.
Mary Jane Smith Thompson was born in Steuben County, N.Y., June 27, 1936. When 6 years of age, she came with her parents to Michigan and made their home in Laingsburg in 1842. The rest of her life was spent in the vicinity.
Passing into sleep in the morning of March 12, 1920, at the age of eighty-three years, eight months and fourteen days, a new day and a new life opened before her.
She was united in marriage to W. O. Thompson, Aug 3, 1856.
Mrs. Thompson became a Christian in her early girlhood and was a member of the Laingsburg Baptist Church, Nov. 20, 1898. She lived an earnest and consistent Christian life esteemed by all her most intimate friends.
To the kind friends and neighbors, to the Soldiers, Methodist and Baptist Aid societies, to the pastor for his kind words of comfort and all others who so kindly assisted with help and sympathy during the illness and death of our beloved mother, we desire to express our most sincere thanks.
Mrs. Ida McFarren and her brothers and sisters.
