17 grandchildren

...and many great and great-great grandchildren

Grandma, or "Nanny" as many of us called her, was a wonderful woman. My father used to get "upset" because he could never participate in "Mother-in-law" jokes because he loved his. She raised 6 children, and my grandfather would say that she did it on her own since he was always working or at a meeting, etc. She was always kind, but knew when to be firm. She and my grandfather were also very nosy neighbors. They would sit near their front window wherever they lived and watch the others around, though they were not gossips. My favorite memory of them would be when we would leave their apartment to return home (4 hours away). They would wave at the window with their curtains.
