John enlisted for Civil War army service as a private in Company H, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, July 29, 1962, at Elyria, Ohio(Lorain County), for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Farmer. His name is spelled "Connelly" on some records and his headstone. He was taken prisoner near Dandridge, Tennessee, January 18, 1864. He died of diarrhea at Andersonville Stockade Prison Georgia, July 30, 1864.
