Birth: Apr. 30, 1840
County Meath, Ireland
Death: Jul. 16, 1911
Elyria
Lorain County
Ohio, USA

Arthur emigrated to the United States with his parents and siblings in 1848 and settled in Carlisle Twp., Lorain County, Ohio. Arthur volunteered for army service during the Civil War when he enlisted in the 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, August 9, 1862, at Elyria, Ohio for a term of 3 years as a private soldier. Mustered into Company H, he was detached to an engineer battalion, July 25, 1863 and was musted out with his company at the end of the war, June 12, 1865, at Raleigh, North Carolina. His wife's name was Catherine, born in Ireland in June 1840, although the cemetery monument shows 1838. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1859. The 1910 U.S. Census shows that she had 8 children but Arthur and Catherine do not appear in the 1870 U.S. Census so the children can't be accounted for except a daughter, Louisa, born in 1876, who appears in the 1880 U.S. Census for LaGrange Twp., Lorain County Ohio.
