Henry enlisted for Civil War army service in Company F, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 4, 1862, at Wellington, OH(Lorain County), for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Farmer. Discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate of Disability at Cincinnati, Ohio, July 24, 1863. Rank: Private. Henry worked for the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railroad. His first wife was apparently named Ella E. Salisbury who was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery Jan. 1, 1892, age unknown.
The Weekly Free Press issue of Aug. 2, 1894 published in Eau Claire, WI, carried his death notice: "The remains of the late H.M. Salisbury, who died at Chippewa Falls, were interred here Sunday afternoon, under Masonic auspices. The funeral was from the residence of H.W. Winters, Chippewa Fall. A funeral train was provided free by the Wisconsin Central Company."
