Rhesa enlisted for Civil War army service as a private in Company F, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, August 5, 1862, at Wellington, Ohio(Lorain County) for a term of three years. Occupation: Farmer. A musician, he was mustered out with Company F, June 12, 1863, at Raleigh, North Carolina, at the end of hostilities. After the war he moved to Kansas to farm. He and his wife, Anna(born in 1848 in New York State), raised a daughter, Julia, born in 1876 in Kansas. His wife apparently died in Kansas. He moved to Urbana, Illinois in 1916 and remarried and worked as a piano tuner. While riding a bicycle in Urbana, he was struck by an automibile and died from the injuries at 86 years of age.
