Charles volunteered for army service during the Civil War, April 4, 1864, by enlisting at Cleveland, Ohio for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Farmer. He was appointed corporal, July 1, 1864. He was mustered out at Salisbury, North Carolina, by order of the War Department, June 12, 1865 at the end of the war. His name is on Panel #13 in the Cuyahoga County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio.

He is buried next to his brother, William Morrison, Company D, 23rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry(1841-Jan. 19, 1872). Rank: Corporal.
Not to be confused with Charles Morrison, Private, Company D, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, buried at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
