United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Achas was killed by friendly fire during the Vietnam War.
Robert was the first combat Marine that was killed in Vietnam. He had landed at Da Nang Bay, South Vietnam, with the first Marine troops sent to combat duty on March 5, 1965.
Robert is honored on the the Vietnam Memorial Wall 1E095.
Robert graduated in 1962 from Griffin High School, Springfield, Illinois.
