1795 April 21 Archibald McDonald "McDaniel" he opened his Dancing Schools. In Louisville. Kentucky. The Dancing School is in the home of Major John Harrison in Louisville, to be held every Second Friday and Saturday, following. One Quarter commencing on Friday the 24th day of April, Those Gentleman and Ladies who are Willing to Encourage this polite accomplishment, are hereby assured that Every attention in his power Shall be cheerfully Paaid to their Children or others that maybe introduced to his care. Mr. McDonald will Expect Five dollars for the quarter. Two of which must be paid at the time of entrance, the balance at the experation of the Quarter, the said Archibald McDonald doth therefore bind and oblige himself to teach such Schollars as May be Subscribed for provided the number of fifteen be subscribed. The modern method of dancing and the established rules odserved in dancing schools that he will at all times preserve, maintain and keep in his said school the utmost decorum and good order. We the Subscribers therefore agree for ourselves only to pay the said McDonald the sum of Two dollars for Each Schollars. We shall severally answer to our names thereafter mentioned that at the time of entrance we will each one for himself pay down the sum of 12/per scrolar and at the expiration of the said Quarter pay to the said McDonald the balance of 3 dollars per Scholar.
