Death of C. O. King

On Friday of last week C. O. King, who had been suffering but a short time departed this life, leaving a faithful and loving wife and children to mourn the loss of him they held most dear. He was born in New York and moved to Michigan before the war, and when the country needed his services he bade loved ones a fond good bye and marched to the front, giving four years and a half of his best years to his country's cause. He was an influential farmer in Valley township, and was held in the highest esteem by his neighbors. On Sunday he was laid to rest in the Avoca cemetery, U.S. Grant post accompanying the remains from the home in Valley township to the church where Rev. Hartsough held a short service, after the post and the Masonic fraternity held appropriate services, when the remains were taken to their final resting place by the Masons, and consigned to the tomb with impressive ceremonies.
