John Barker Co G 10th Iowa Infantry applied for invalid pension Apr 23 1884 in Iowa.
Service of 10th Iowa included battles of New Madrid,Mo, Island # 10, siege and battle of Corinth,MS in 1862. Port Gibson, Black River Bridge, Champion's Hill, MS where the regiment lost nearly half its number engaged as killed and wounded, the failed suicidal frontal assault of Ft Beauregard at Vicksburg, Missionary Ridge, Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, TN in 1863 , siege of Atlanta, GA, Sherman's March to the Sea in 1864, the Carolina's Campaign in 1865, followed by triumphal march through Washington D.C.
