"List of Union Soldiers Buried at Cassville, MO" This list of approx 250 soldiers included George M Abbott Co C 9th Iowa Infantry who died Apr 21 1862.

Of those 250, over 150 headboards, having been inscribed in pencil, were no longer legible. Many of the others were only partially legible. A large number of those buried at Cassville were men who succumbed to wounds from Battle of Pea Ridge, Ark (Mar 6-8 1862).

Abt 1867, all were exhumed and moved to Springfield National Cemetery with the majority interred as unknowns.
