Laura May Brown was the daughter of Albert Brown and Sarah Jane Cartwright. She was born in Brigham Quebec and baptized at the Congregational Church in Brigham in 1903. Father Albert was a teamster, and somehow this family moved to Glendive, Montana, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, probably working on the railroads. She married Joseph Albert Gappa in Woodbury County Iowa in 1919, but soon divorced after the birth of daughter Arlene. She then moved to Idaho where she married Lawrence Malone, who was manager of the Benjamin Franklin Hotel in Seattle Washington. Lawrence also owned Malone's Candies in Seattle. Laura May Malone is listed as the owner of Malone Hotel in Renton, Washington, when she died while cleaning up around the hotel.
