Rubye Eleanor Bates Cooper, 68, a lifelong Manhattan resident, died Sunday at Manhattan.
She was born in Bozeman on October 21, 1914, to Burch and Floyd (Scollard) Bates. The family lived in Manhattan, where she attended and graduated from high school. She later graduated from the Bozeman Deaconess School of Nursing.
On November 14, 1937, she married George Dale Cooper in Billings.
Mrs. Cooper was employed as a registered nurse and was a member of the Manhattan Bible Church.
Survivors include her husband, George of Manhattan; one son, Stuart Cooper of Manhattan; two daughters, Barbara Heiskell of Manhattan and Carol Sutton of Bozeman; one brother, Avery Bates of Manhattan; one sister, Alberta Halberg of Helena; one aunt, Maude Carpenter of Helena; two grandchildren in Manhattan, one great grandson, and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leo Bates.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel in Bozeman. Burial was at Meadowview Cemetery in Manhattan.
