Enos was born in Oxford, Mississippi, the son of Enos William Wells and wife, Essie Woods Wells.
Enos was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 5th Marine Division – 25th Regiment – 3rd Battalion – arrived in Iwo Jima on Feb. 19, 1945 – where he was seriously wounded 10 days later. This injury affected him all the rest of his life. Enos was a resident of Humboldt, Tennessee. Enos married Ruth Ann Campbell. He was an active member of the Humboldt Senior Citizens Center. Later in life he lived at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt. He was 85 years young.
Enos had no biological children.
Enos was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann, and four brothers; an infant, as well as, Lloyd George Wells who died in May 2009, Buddy Wells of Booneville, Mississippi who died in July 2009, and James Wells, also a sister, Alice Churchill of Water Valley, Mississippi.
Enos is survived by sisters, Pearl Conner and Essie Lee Wells, both of Oxford, Mississippi, and brother Harold Wells of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as nephew and niece Larry and Deborah Campbell.
The visitation and funeral was held at the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home 731-784-1414 Humboldt, Tennessee Monday May 2, 2011 with private burial to follow.
