Birth: Sep. 24, 1900
Death: Nov. 11, 1984

Alda Lorine Johnsey was the daughter of Thomas Alexander Johnsey and Sallie Jane Roy Johnsey. Alda's grandparents were John Johnsey and Nancy Elizabeth Pardue Johnsey, and Lafayette Needham Roy and Caroline Melindy Davidson Roy.

Lorine, as she was called by family, has deep roots in Alabama. Born and raised in Helena, she married Manual H. Cook in 1916 and they moved to Gadsden. Around 1939, they moved to Atlanta for Manual's work at the steel mill. Lorine was very involved with her church, Loring Heights Baptist in Atlanta. Lorine played the piano though she never had any lessons and played completely by ear.

Lorine and Manual had 10 children who survived into adulthood. At the time of her death in 1984, Lorine had over 60 grandchildren and great-grandchildren (combined).
