Glenn Edward Cottom, 67, of Lady Lake, passed away Nov. 10, 2008. He was born in Akron, Ohio, on Dec. 24, 1940 to Glenn and Edna Cottom. He moved to Miami Springs in 1943, lived and worked in Miami until he moved to Leesburg in 1977. He Lived at Cottom Farms in Lady Lake. He owned and operated Cottom's A-1 Sod with his wife Wendy for 44 years, owned Cottom's Plaza with his brother Jim since 1977. He was owner of Sherydan Glenn Cattle and Sherydan Glenn Nursery and was a developer. Member of First Baptist Church, Leesburg, member of Leesburg Lodge 58 F & AM and a Shriner in Miami. Survivors include his wife, Wendy; mother-in-law, Pinky Parker, wife of deceased Glenn Parker; daughters, Debra (Chris) Beesley of Sumterville, and Danielle Cottom of Lady Lake; son, Hutch (Nicki) Cottom of Fruitland Park; brothers, James H. Cottom and companion Sally Mack of Sevierville, Tenn., Robert V. Cottom (Alice) of St. Cloud, Leonard I. Cottom, II (Kasey) of Banner Elk, N.C., Allan V. Cottom (Lyn) of Ocala; sisters-in-law, Helen Cottom of Lady Lake, Lynda Cottom of Smiths, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, Nichole (John) Bisignano, Chelsea Glasgow, Justin Beesley, Kody Beesley, Darian Hunter, Dallis Hunter, Kile Cottom, McKenzie Cottom, Cheyenne Shoemake, Dean Shoemake, Graycie Cottom
and Cade Beesley. He was predeceased by his brothers, Leonard I. Cotton, Sr. of Lady Lake, and Thomas C. Cottom of Smiths, Ala. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church, Leesburg, on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, with Dr. Charles L. Roesel and the Rev. Cliff Lea officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg.
