LCpl Jacob Walter Beisel
Birth: Sep. 27, 1984
Honesdale
Wayne County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Mar. 31, 2006
Anbar, Iraq

Lance Cpl. Jacob W. Beisel of Lackawaxen, Pa., joined the Marines in September of 2003, a few months after graduating from Wallenpaupack Area High School. He had just started his second tour in Iraq when he was killed. He was just a really fun, fun-loving kid, and a goof ball who got along with everybody. It didn't matter what clique you were in, who went about his business, respectful, a really solid young man from a good family. He had planned to attend college after leaving the military. In winters, Jacob hunted in the woods surrounding his home. In summers, he would dive into a river with a spear and resurface with a fish. He was a straight-A student, but family members say they never saw him crack a book. And since he was a little boy, he wanted to be a Marine. Second-best didn't cut it in Jacob's eyes. He is survived by his parents, Albert and Mary, a younger sister, Amanda. Jacob became the 13th local member of the military to have been killed in connection with the war in Iraq. He was 21.
