She was born April 17, 1931, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Albert and Jennie (DeLong) Ackerman. She married the love of her life, Frank E. Ayotte Sr. Sept. 4, 1948, and devoted her entire life to her husband and her seven children, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and countless other children and grandchildren she adopted by the way.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1981. She is survived by her children, Frank E. Ayotte Jr. and his companion, Diane, of Fort Fairfield, Patrick J. and Virginia Ayotte of Augusta, Lloyd D. and Patty Ayotte of Fort Fairfield, Joyce L. Charette and her husband, Wayne, of Ashland, Elizabeth A. Gray and her husband, Walter "Sonny," of Dedham, Mary A. Lagassie of Fort Fairfield, Lori A. Labbe and her husband, Roland, of Presque Isle. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick J. Ayotte Jr. and his wife, Barbie and their children Austin and Emma of Winthrop, Wendy (Poulin) Charette and Aimee' and Michael of Presque Isle, Wayne V. Charette Jr. and his wife, Donne and their children, Brandon, Cody, Tyler and Conner, of Caribou, James R. Charette and his wife, Sara and Matthew of Ashland, Laura L. Turcotte and her husband, Rodney and their children, Zachary, Caitlin, Rodney and Dakota of Fort Fairfield, Robert R. Barker and his wife, Janice and their children Brittany, Austin, Jackson and Aiden of Dedham, Roland O. Labbe Jr. and his fiance Amy Gray and their children, Breanna, Jonathan and one expected, of Dedham, Jamie L. Bragg and the late Andrew Bragg Sr. and their children, Andrew Jr. "AJ," Joyce L. Lagasse of Fort Fairfield and Frank G. Lagasse of Caribou.
Special people in Joyce's life were, Alyssa Labbe of Presque Isle, Michael Poulin of Presque Isle, Dan Spoffard of Caribou; a brother, Richard J. Ackerman and his wife, Clarissa, of Caribou; a sister, Mary Bell and her husband, Raymond, of Sun City, Ariz. The children and grandchildren would like to give special thanks to Nikki Winters of Presque Isle for all the care she gave to Joyce and all the time and care she gave to the family at our time of need. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at TAMC Med/Surg. floor for their excellent care given to our mother and grandmother and going above and beyond with their support to the family.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Roger Jewell, officiating. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Spring interment will be at Johnson Cemetery, Presque Isle.
