Dr. Eugene Stanley Brusky, 91, Allouez, died peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Eugene was born December 10, 1921, in Pulaski to John and Josephine Brusky. He, the youngest of thirteen children, worked with his family on their dairy farm. Eugene and several older brothers went on to attend medical school in Milwaukee. He graduated from Marquette University in 1945. September 5th of that same year, Eugene married Hazel Christina Duddeck of Waukesha. They eventually settled in Green Bay, where they raised their fourteen children.
As a general practitioner, Dr. Brusky, along with his brother, worked to establish the West Side Clinic, where they cared for several generations of area families. He collaborated with the Catholic Diocese, in helping to establish St. Mary's Hospital, to better serve west Green Bay.
Dr. Brusky served as the team physician for the Green Bay Packers for over 29 years. The team inducted Dr. Eugene into the Packer Hall of Fame in 1987.
Eugene loved the game of golf, enjoyed dining out with family and a challenging crossword puzzle. He was a devoted Catholic and belonged to St Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish. Eugene looked forward to any opportunity to share his faith with anyone he met.
He will be sadly missed by 13 children and their families, Mary and Joe Watermolen, Green Bay; Thomas and Lynn Brusky, Aiken, SC; Susan (Brusky) Vanness, Green Bay; John and Germana Brusky, Ocala, FL; Cheryl (Brusky) Danz, Green Bay; Mark and Cora Brusky, De Pere; Kathryn (Brusky) and Paul Resch, Little Suamico; Charles Brusky, Green Bay; Rita (Brusky) and Gary Wyckoff, Green Bay; Eugene Jr. and Kathleen Brusky, De Pere; Kevin Brusky, Green Bay; David and Brenda Brusky, Oshkosh; Julie Brusky, Green Bay; twenty grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; their oldest daughter, Jeanne Ann Brusky; 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral with Rev. John Girotti celebrating and the Most Rev. Robert Morneau as homilist. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
The Brusky family extends a heartfelt thank you to Bishop Morneau for his spiritual comfort during this difficult time. Eugene was loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed by everyone he touched during his life.
