Nicholas Hinchberger, one of Butler's oldest citizens, died on Monday at the home of his son Frank, on Second street, at the age of 88 years. Mr Hinchberger had been a resident of Butler County for many years, and was a highly respected citizen. He was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He is survived by three sons and three daughters, Frank of Butler, Joseph of Pittsburg; Matthew, of Herman; Mrs Elizabeth Sang of Herman, Mrs George Blissell, of Clarion, and one daughter in the convent. Mr. Hinchberger was a veteran of the Civil war having enlisted in 1861 in the 88th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers and served for three years. He was a member of A.G. Reed Post G.A.R
