OBITUARY: CAPTAIN CHRISTIAN S. CARMACK, a prominate citizen of Phoenixville, Pa., and a native of this city, died a few days ago, aged 69 years. He was a survivor of the Mexican and Civil Wars, having joined Scott's army when but fifteen years old. At the breaking out of the Civil War, Mr Carmack organized and commanded Company E, Eighty-eight Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served throughout the rebellion. At the battle of Antietam, he commanded his regiment and was wounded. He was a prominent member of the Grand Army, a local preacher in the Methodist church and was prominent in Masonic circles.
