Robert E. Cuskaden was mustered into service with the 88th Pennsylvania Volunteers on August 31, 1861. Promoted from 2nd Lt. Company F, February 17, 1864; Absent without leave; Dismissed November 11, 1864.

MORTUARY NOTICE: 3 February 1871, Philadelphia Inquirer

CUSKADEN - On the 31st ult. At 5:40 pm ROBERT ERVIN CUSKADEN, oldest son of John and Isabella Cuskaden, in the 35th years of his age.

The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the residence of his father, No. 3 Market Street, Chester this (Friday)afternoon at 3 o'clock. Train leaves Broad and Washington streets depot at 11 am.
