Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Eva Marie Venable, age 84, who passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 2:30 a.m. at Louisiana Extended Care in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens The Rev. Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will officiate at the services.
Ms. Venable grew up in Church Point and lived in Lafayette for most of her life.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Landry and his wife, Susan, of Carencro and Ronald Keith Vicknair of Lafayette; three daughters, Deanie Leger Duhon and her husband, Roland, of Breaux Bridge, Jessica A. Vicnair and her companion, Ronald Lormand, of Lafayette and Tina M. Vicknair and her companion, Anthony D. Brashear, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Kenneth Vicknair, Sara Vicknair, Crystal Vicknair Leger, Anthony Vicknair, Chase Vicknair and Cody Brashear; one great grand daughter, Gabrielle Bri Leger; and one sister, Nita Thibodeaux and her husband, Leland, of Church Point.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jean Batiste Richard and her second husband, Harry Camille "Pappy" Vicknair; her parents, Morris Venable and the former Azelima Faul both natives of Cankton; one son, John Earl Richard; one great granddaughter, Kayla Jai Leger; five brothers, Milton Venable, Birchman Venable, Emery Venable, Saturn Venable and Roy Venable; eight sisters, Hermenia Burleigh, Edalie Venable, Clophina Venable, Zula Venable, Edia Daigle, Bertha Cormier, Viniola Smith and Clodia Latiolais.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Lormand, Roland Duhon, Donald Venable, Kenneth Vicknair, Chase Vicknair and Anthony Vicknair. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Vicknair, Anthony Brashear, Richard Walters, Travis Ardoin and Tony Roseberry.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
