Ernest Goodwin Geisendorff June 30, 1935 - May 24, 2007
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2007 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Ernest Goodwin Geisendorff, age 71, who passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 3:42 a.m. at his residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jopling, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Ave Maria, Isaiah 49, On Eagle's Wings, and Just a Closer Walk with Thee.
Mr. Geisendorff was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette and a parishioner of St. John Cathedral. He was a craftful person and had served in the Naval Reserve for 8 years. He had been employed with E. J. Brasseaux Real Estate and Insurance for 14 years as an Office Manager and Insurance Agent, and Aamco Transmission for 15 years as an inside sales manager. After his retirement, Ernest, enjoyed lawnmower and small engine repair work and enjoyed working in his flower gardens. He spent many hours in his yard and had a green thumb with landscaping, making his backyard a beautiful retreat.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Dolores Knight Geisendorff of Lafayette; two daughters, Kay Abboud and her husband, David, of Orange Park, FL and Sandra Melancon and her husband, Gerald, of Carencro; eight grandchildren, Kristy A. Oliver and her husband, Robert, Cory J. Melancon, Chad D. Abboud, Casey P. Melancon, Dayna R. Abboud, Megan A. Melancon, Jeffrey M. Abboud, and Timothy J. Abboud; two great granddaughters, Kasandra "Kassie" Oliver and Kalynn Oliver; two brothers, Henry William "Butch" Geisendorff, Jr., and his wife, Patty of Foley, AL and Maurice John "M.J." "Tuffy" Geisendorff, and his wife Ann, of Youngsville; one sister, Maurine Gabus and her husband, Ben, of Lexington, South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry William Geisendorff and the former Agnes Baden; and by one brother, Earl Geisendorff.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Gerald W. Melancon, David E. Abboud, Chad Abboud, Cory Melancon, Casey Melancon, Jeffrey Abboud, Timothy Abboud, and M. J. "Tuffy" Geisendorff.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Hospice of Acadiana's doctors, nurses and staff, especially to his care givers, Carrie, Becky and Rose, for the wonderful and caring support given to them in their time of need.
