Philip James Corso, 83 years of age, of West Palm Beach, Florida, served in the United States Army, and earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His background included being an intelligence officer on General Douglas MacArthur's staff during the Korean War; a member of President Eisenhower's National Security Council; head of Foreign Technology in Army Research and Development at the Pentagon in the early 1960s, where he was in charge of the Roswell Files. He retired from the Army in 1963, then served as National Security specialist staff to U.S. Senators James Eastland and Strom Thurmond. He was a highly decorated soldier, a recipient of 30 medals and commendations during his long military career.

He was widely known for his controversial 1997 book "The Day After Roswell", about how he was involved in the research of alleged extraterrestrial technology recovered from the 1947 Roswell UFO Incident. On July 23rd, 1997, he was a guest on the popular late night radio show, Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell where he spoke live about his Roswell story.

Philip died of a heart attack on Thursday, July 16th, 1998. He was survived by two children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Burial was in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
