Evidently Nathan was an opinionated man. He toss out Captain Day and his sword from his house in the winter of Shay's Rebellion, when the Captain invited himself in to get warm.
On the 19th of April 1775 Capt. Seth Washburn's company of Minutemen stopped at Nathan and Mary's house. Seeing that they did not have enough ammunition, they melted down the lead weights from the grandfather clock.
Nathan married first Mary Sargent (1721-1750) and second Mary Denny.
