Mrs. Cassie (Gibson) Blackledge, 94, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 15, 1992 at her home. She was born April 22, 1897 at Webbers Falls Indian Territory, the daughter of W. M. and Sarah "Sallie" (Bugg) Gibson.
She was a homemaker and former teacher. She attended Crescent College in Eureka springs, Arkansas and Harding College in Mexico, Missouri. Mrs. Blackledge taught school in Wagoner County. She was a member of the Farm Extension Club in Wagoner County for over fifty years, serving as its first President for two years. She was a member of Fayetteville Sequoyah United Methodist Church and moved to this area eleven years ago from Porter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Blackledge, who died January 14, 1986 and a daughter, Irene Yardley, who died October 5, 1973.
Mrs. Blackledge is survived by one daughter; Mrs. P. C. (Louise) Brooks of Fayetteville; two granddaughters; Mrs. Jim (Frances) Holman of Roanoke, Virginia and Mrs. Gary (Paula) Lee of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two grandsons; James T. Yardley of Morristown, New Jersey and Harold B. Yardley of Plano, Texas; and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma, under the direction of Moore's Chapel. The Rev. Hazel Clark officiated. Memorials may be made to Sequoyah United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
