Ephraim), born in Stratford, CT, like his older brothers was set up in life, on attaining manhood, by his father who deeded to him lands in that part of Middletown now Middlefield, on which the young man located and established a farm where he remained until 1741, when by two deeds dated Mar. 14 and Apr. 6, 1741, he sold his homestead containing sixty-one acres with mansion house, etc., to John Lyman. (Hawley Genealogy, p. 505.) He then removed to Durham where he afterwards lived, his name appearing on several deeds as grantor of land to his sons; and he died there Nov. 10, 1765, in his sixty-seventh year, according to his gravestone, having taken but little part in the public affairs of the town. Both he Ind his wife were members of the church in Durham.
He married in Middletown, CT, Nov. 28, 1723, Hannah Comfort Miller, born June 1, 1704, daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Johnson) Miller. In her old age she removed to West Granville, MA, to live with her sons, and died there in February 1793, aged eighty-eight years. Ephraim and Hannah had ten children:
