Roy L. Ashcraft, 86, of Louisville, died Thursday at Jewish Hospital. A native of Louisville, he was a retired, self-employed factory representative and an Army veteran, having received the Purple Heart during World War II. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, a 55-year member of Highland Post #201, St. Vincent de Paul, Mount St. Francis Retreat, Catholic Golden Age Group #1 and Sons of the American Revolution, a former member of St. Raphael parish and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Phyllis Donoghoe; daughters, Sherrin Ashcraft Knecht, Terrell A. Hodge, Mary Jo "Dodie" Borho, Jaculin A. Iler, Pamela A. Delaney, Miriam "Mimi" Ashcraft Fairbanks, Anne A. Samples and Kim A. Medley; sons, Roy Patrick, Michael A. and Timothy J. Ashcraft; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His funeral service will take place at noon Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Memorial gifts may go to the American Diabetes Association, Kentucky School for the Blind or Mount Saint Francis.
