Garry Nolan Daniel, 71, of Idaho Falls, died July 4, 2010, at his home from causes due to throat cancer.
He was born Dec. 10, 1938, in St. Anthony, Idaho, the son of Nolan H. Daniel and Dorothy Hobbs Daniel. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army.
On Dec. 10, 1983, he married Jackie Hitz in Idaho Falls. Besides living in St. Anthony and Idaho Falls, he lived in Kent, Wash. He was employed in the family drywall business and also in the nuclear field at Pacific Gas & Electric. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several positions, including Elders Quorum president and working with the young men.
Garry was a member of the Elks Club. He was an avid golfer and he enjoyed bowling. During his high school years, he excelled in all sports and as the quarterback, he was known as Swivel-Hips Daniel.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Daniel of Idaho Falls; children, Terresa (Dean) Brown, Jeff Daniel, Mike (Lisa) Daniel and Nathan Daniel, all of Washington, and Debbie Daniel of Utah; stepchildren, Trish (Steve) Poulos of Idaho Falls, Kristy (Jason) Mayer of Genesee, Darin (Sydney) Moore of Paso Robles, Calif., and Dennis (Tina) Moore of Meridian; mother, Dorothy Daniel of St. Anthony; siblings, Pam (Chris) Matey of Bellevue and Dayle (Karen) Daniel of Idaho Falls; 22 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Daniel; and a son, Timothy Daniel.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shull and Dr. Todd and their staff for the wonderful care they provided for Garry.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls, with Phil Hitz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls.
