Frances "Fannie" Flattery was born in Clinton County, Iowa, on April 5, 1866, the daughter of William J. and Mary (Kennedy) Bates.
Fannie moved to Monroe County, Iowa, in 1892 after the death of her mother, and she made her home with her aunts and uncles, the Kennedy family.
On October 15, 1895, Fannie married John Henry Flattery in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Georgetown.
Fannie and John had 4 children: Leo (1895-?), Henry (1896-1980), Joe (1898-1965), and Marie (1905-?).
Fannie, 49 years old, died at the family home near Georgetown, Iowa, on October 1, 1915, after an illness of several weeks. Following a funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Georgetown, Fannie was buried across the street at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
