Mr. Ricke was born in Medicine Lodge, Kansas the son of Fred and Mary Hrencher Ricke. He was the first of seven children. He died at Humana Hospital, Dodge City, Kansas.
He attended school in Sharon, Kansas; however, he had to quit school early so that he could work and support the family when his father became ill.
Francis married Miss Flora Cecilia Schmidt, the daughter of Eugene and Mary Karlin Schmidt, on March 26, 1940. The couple was blessed with nine children; four sons, Allan, Gary, Cletus, and Myron' and five daughter's, Ellen, Dianne, Kay, Sharon, and Annette.
He was a proud farmer and measured land for Harper, Barber and Ford Counties in Kansas.
Francis was a member of St Andrews Catholic Church, Wright, Kansas, was a past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, in Wright, and was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Dodge City.
Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memories, he was survived by Flora, his loving wife of 45 years, of the home; sons, Allan and Gary, both of Dodge City, Cletus and Myron of Wright; daughter, Ellen Drouhard, of Argonia, Kansas, Annette Burhart, of Spearville, Kansas, Dianne Durler, of Wright, Kay Herrmann, of Dodge City, and Sharon Ricke, of Great Bend, Kansas.
He was also survived by his brothers, S.J. Ricke, of Spivey, Kansas, and Wilfred Ricke of Medicine Lodge; Catherine Dick, of Sharon, Kansas, Marie Drier, of Olpe, Kansas, Mildred Ketzner, of Yamhill, Oregon, and Lorena Angell, of Medicine Lodge; there were 14 grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on Saturday evening at the Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, and on Sunday at St Andrew Catholic Church, Wright.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St Andrew Catholic Church with Monsignor A.F. Preisner officiating.
