He was a member of the 1970s group "Chic" until they disbanned in 1981 and with Labelle. He then came as a 'in demand' session drummer for his skills when he was with "Chic." He played at Live Aid as a drummer for the surviving members of "Led Zepplin" in 1985, which is also the same year he joined his friend Palmer, John and Andy Taylor of "Duran Duran" fame to form the group "Power Station."
