| Birth: | May 12, 1824 | | Death: | Apr. 1, 1889 |  Businesman. His ancestral line is traced back to William Allis, born between 1613 and 1616 in London, England. He came to America on July 1, 1630 on the third voyage of the Mayflower landing at Charleston Harbor, Boston. E. P. Allis was born in Cazenovia, Onondaga, New York, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jere Allis. He arrived in Milwaukee in 1845, and opened the Wisconsin Leather Company, which was the foundation of the Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co. Edward Allis, Charles D. Nash and John P. McGregor bought the Reliance Works from Decker and Seville, and renamed it the E. P. Allis and Co. In March of 1913 it was incorporated in Delaware. Mr. Allis was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and was one of the original fifty-five purchasers of Forest Home Cemetery, which enabled the Vestry to purchase the land from the heirs of the Rev. Hull.
